| The Garden Lodge
The Garden Lodge is on the banks of the Chobe River and was built with
the specific intention of offering personal service to a small number
of guests in the Kasane area. It caters for a maximum of eighteen guests.
It is on the banks of the Chobe River, in Botswana’s far north only
70km from Victoria Falls, 16km from Kazungula/Kasane (the meeting point
of Botswana, Zimbabwe, Namibia and Zambia). It is also only 2km away from
Chobe National Park with its estimated 70,000 elephants, huge herds of
buffalo and daily sightings of lion.
Accommodation: The lodge has eight bedrooms (3 doubles and 4 family size),
each with its own bathroom and private verandah overlooking the Chobe
River
It is truly a garden lodge. The combination of unlimited water and constant
sunshine allows hibiscus, frangipani, bougainvillea, banana and paw paw
to grow in profusion. Guests love the garden and birds are attracted to
the flowers and fruits.
Facilities: The feature swimming pool is secluded allowing for even moonlight
swims during your tropical safari vacation.
The bar is upstairs and overlooks the Chobe River. It is informally known
as the Map Room due to the large number of maps hung on the walls
Generally guests sit at one table. This allows guests to meet each other
and often the conversation continues well after the meal has ended!
Guests have the choice of either a continental or English breakfast.
Lunches are a buffet with a choice of hot dishes, salads, cold meat, and
cheeses.
Dinner is a set menu, however, the kitchen will happily cater for guests'
individual requirements.
Packed meals are available for those who are spending the day in Chobe
park or on the Chobe river.
Activities:
Very flexible in this small personal lodge where for example they know
from experience that a herd of bull elephants drink in the middle of the
day before swimming across the Chobe river to feed in Namibia.
If guests particularly want to see swimming elephants they are happy to
change the routine by taking the boat in the middle of the day and a game
drive in the late evening.
For fishermen, the Chobe and Zambezi Rivers are on their doorstep. Keen
birders will have a field day, with over 500 species in the area.
Traditionally early morning game drives and late afternoon boat cruises
are safari routine. Elephants are seen in the hundreds and buffalo in
the thousands. Lions are seen almost daily as are impala, sable antelope,
giraffe, warthog and numerous other species.
Game viewing:
Taken in open safari vehicles into the Chobe National Park
Sunset boat cruises on the Chobe river
