Victoria Falls

When Livingstone arrived at the Victoria Falls,and presumptuously named them after his queen, they already had an apt designation – Mosi oa Tunya – “The Smoke that Thunders”. This name had been given to the waters by the region’s Makololo inhabitants. The energy and power of over a mile’s width of the Zambezi river thundering 100m down a sheer chasm is a pretty compelling sight.
