VILANKULOS

The presence of many indigenous trees, including hundreds of mighty baobabs, conveys an aura of timeless Africa as one gets nearer to Vilankulo on the EN1, 700km north of Maputo.

Vilankulos is a bustling village with all the essential amenities. It has an active fresh produce market and several small shops selling various supplies and a number of small quaint restaurants serving up Vilanculos' finest sea food. Petrol and telephone lines are also available.

There are some lovely beaches here, although excursions to the nearby Barazuto Archipelago are the main drawcard for tourists.
