ZIMBABWE TRAVEL INFO

Health

You can put aside most of the health fears that may be justified in some parts of Africa. The sunny, dry climate and unpolluted air suits most people and Zimbabwe's temperate central plateau is exceptionally healthy. There are generally high standards of hygiene and safe drinking water in all tourist areas. With just a little common sense, it is easy to stay healthy the whole time.

Malaria, caused by a parasite carried in the saliva of Anopheles mosquitos, is endemic in tropical Africa and it is advisable to obtain information on the prophylaxis necessary although much of Zimbabwe is free of malarial mosquitos.

Suggested immunisations:

The vaccinations for these diseases are recommended for everyone:
Tetanus
Hepatitis A

Yellow fever: The immigration authorities in Zimbabwe will only ask for proof of a yellow fever vaccination if you are coming from a country where the disease is endemic.

Medicines

If you are on any medication, make sure you bring sufficient quantities with you from home to last your entire stay.
Remember your sun tan lotion.
Never mind about the moquito repellent, you will be supplied with an excellent local product.

Insurance

International travel insurance is mandatory on all tours. Please insure that your policy covers emergency evacuation and urgent high care treatment. Make sure you keep a copy of your travel insurance certificate of coverage handy.
