MOZAMBIQUE TRAVEL INFO
Telephones and Internet
Mozambique's country code is 258. When dialling an international number from Mozambique, the international access code is 00 this is then followed by the desired country code, area code and telephone number. Local, domestic and international calls can be made from hotels and telecom offices in built up areas. The country's telephone system is fairly efficient.
You can now use Mozambique's cellular network mCel to stay in touch. Activate your international roaming or purchase a 'giro' prepaid starter kit with an mCel SIM card to replace your existing card while you are in Mozambique. Starter kits and airtime vouchers are available at local supermarkets and wherever you see the 'giro' sign. Cell phone reception is generally restricted to urban areas.
A quick and easy way to keep in touch with loved ones at home is
via internet. Whilst travelling, internet points may be accessed
at the major centres. If you can only access your internet email
account at home through a small internet service provider (ISP),
your best option is either to open an account with a global ISP
such as AOL or collect your mail through Yahoo or Hotmail etc.
