When to come
Deciding when to come is really a question of what you're after.
The months from December to March coincide with the wet season. The bush is thick and green and wildlife is a little harder to spot because animals disperse and do not need to stick close to perennial water sources.
February through to May are excellent months for bird watching. A special attraction are the flamingoes that often visit the Makgadikadi Salt Pans during this period.
From April to November, the days are normally clear, dry and sunny, but the nights are cool to cold. At this time wildlife never wanders far from water sources, so game viewing is easier and more predictable than in the wet season. December is also an interesting time to visit. The long dry season has just ended and the first rains have quenched the land of its thirst so the vegetation is slowly springing back to life but being the beginning of the season visibility in the bush to see wildlife is still good.
