ZIMBABWE'S ATTRACTIONS
Chizarira National Park
Very few visitors make it to Chizarira, Zimbabwe’s most remote National Park. Isolated and underdeveloped, though, it is a spectacular region well-watered by rivers cutting sheer gorges through the Zambezi escarpment, with plateaux and floodplains as you move south. Expect to see lion, elephant, tsessebe, reedbuck, duiker, grysbok, impala, klipspringer, sable and occasionally eland.
But when people talk about the park, it’s the scenic beauty that they invariably wax lyrical about. This becomes understandable as soon as you approach the park. From a long way off the jagged mountains of Chizarira are visible, dominated by Tundazi – home, local legend has it, to an immense, and powerful serpent.
